Our Team

Addy Bohag, DPW Team Member
What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success, and why?
I would attribute my success to my empathy and passion to help others. I’ve always prioritized understanding and connecting with the people I work with, whether they’re colleagues, clients, or team members. I believe that truly understanding and valuing others not only fosters a positive work environment but also drives success by aligning everyone towards a common goal.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?
The biggest misconception is that it’s merely administrative, when in reality, this position is responsible for coordinating success in all facets - acting as a liaison between clients and the firm, identifying and implementing workflow improvements, managing software tools, facilitating internal & external communication, and assisting with marketing and strategic planning.
What energizes you outside of work?
Spending time with my loved ones, whether it be trips home for Mariner games with my family, getting margaritas with my girls, or just watching a movie at home with friends. I also love exploring Salem/Oregon - finding new restaurants, parks, hikes, events, or antique stores. My free time is usually spent catching up on a new show, listening to all kinds of music, playing sports like tennis or golf, or going out on the town!

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success, and why?
I’m a pretty keen observer, which helps me easily anticipate people’s needs and emotions. I’m the person who reads the room and does everything I can to make people feel comfortable within it.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?
People often think my job is just paperwork, and while there is a lot of that, there is much more to be done. I do everything in the office, except give investment advice. And I’m even licensed to do that as well. But, I prefer to be behind the scenes, making sure everything works like a well-oiled machine.
What energizes you outside of work?
Writing. I have a second career as a historical novelist, with three published books already under my belt.
Favorite quote or song?
I’m a Swifty at heart and my favorite song is You’re On Your Own, Kid because it reminds me that no matter what, I can make it through anything.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success, and why?
The trait that I attribute to my success is persistence. In order to get things done when you're as young as I am you have to show a drive and passion for your work.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?
People assume that the role of an Intern involves only coffee runs and making copies when in fact most of us are doing full time Tax Preparation.
What energizes you outside of work?
My passion outside of work is my Motorcycle. I ride a 2020 Harley Davidson Lowrider S. If the weather is good and I am not at work you can expect to find me on my bike.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success, and why?
I am relational. I love building relationships with clients and learning about their business and goals on a more intimate level. A client’s financials are extremely personal and in order for them to turn over their business books to me, they have to trust me.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?
People’s first assumption about me is that I love numbers; I do not. I love puzzles and I truly believe that tax planning is simply a massive puzzle begging to be solved.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success, and why?
I would say the personality trait I most attribute to my success is dependability. Even when I was very young, I could work without supervision as I tend to work evenly at a project until it is done.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?
The biggest misconception people have about my position is that the more experienced an accountant is, the more they talk in incomprehensible numbers. I have found that we accountants tend to start learning incomprehensible numbers right away, then spend the rest of our lives learning to translate those numbers into human speech. The more experienced the accountant, the better he or she should be at understanding and explaining.
What energizes you outside of work?
Outside of work, I am energized by gardening. I love growing mainly plants that produce food, such as vegetables and berries, though there are some flowers I like too. I even enjoy weeding.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?
Everyday is different... there is not a day that I come into work and my day goes exactly as planned, I love it!
